PBS Video Gets Android TV Support

PBS Video

PBS, the Public Broadcasting Corporation, has made it easy for people on their phones and tablets to watch TV shows they produce. If you’re a fan of Downtown Abbey, Mr. Selfridge, or Nova, you may have already used this app to catch up on shows. There’s also online specials, news, and song performances that you can play in the app.

One area PBS has omitted up until now has been the TV. It makes a lot of sense that a TV channel allow users to watch TV shows on a connected TV. With a relatively quiet update to their app and website, there is now support for Android TV with an attractive Leanback UI.

The app lets you resume watching previous videos, favorite specific ones, and browse basically all of their content. It’s free to download on the Google Play store.

The app also has support for Google Cast, so you can navigate on your phone and then just send the video to your device.
