[Update: Second Teaser] Former Google VP And Now Xiaomi’s VP Hugo Barra Reveals Company’s Presence at Google I/O, Android TV Box Coming?

Hugo Barra, a former VP at Google and now Vice President of Global Operations at Xiaomi, has today announced on Twitter that the Chinese firm and possibly himself will be appearing at Google I/O 2016.

While confirming the appearance this year, an image accompanied it, and it looks to be a remote within the I hinting at either headphone controls or a remote for an unreleased Android TV Box whether it’s an OEM box or a partnership with Google (New Nexus Player(s) anyone?).

All we know is they’ve been looking to move into the western world to branch out from just the east and after attending MWC, a second western world appearance at Google I/O would be huge especially with all the rumors and speculation cooked up among the entire Android platform. Entering a uncrowded section of the Android platform may be a good way for Xiaomi to enter the western market. While the company already has a Mi TV in its products’ lineup, even though not powered by Android, it shows that Xiaomi knows what they’re doing and could deliver a proper experience on the Android TV platform.

Tune in tomorrow to hear about all news on Google I/O as we’ll be reporting it as it happens.

Update: Hugo just sent out a second tweet that hints much more at something around TV and gaming.
