Movies & TV v3.15: New Banner & Playback

Google Play Movies & TV is one of the core TV apps that connects you to Google’s content ecosystem and lets you purchase or rent movies and TV shows. It has just received an update that doesn’t introduce new features but adds some visual polish.

New Banner

As reported two months ago, Google Play has received a brand update that extends to every Google Play app (Music, Movies & TV, Games, Books, Newsstand). Now each one has their app icon extending out of a colored triangle that resembles the icon for Google Play itself.

New Player

The player’s seekbar has been replaced with one that’s simpler, as can be shown in the video below. Instead of selecting each action, users can use the remote’s left and right buttons to skip 10 seconds in either direction. If they hold down long enough, thumbnails appear to let the user quickly see where to stop. It’s similar to Netflix’s controls on Android TV.
