Google Device Assist Now Appearing In Android TV Recommendations Selector On 7.0 Nougat

Google+ user Royland Williamson discovered something that is a bit of a mystery at the moment. Google Device Assist is showing up in Android TV’s recommendations selector in Android 7.0 Nougat. Now there’s not much information at the moment beyond this but I do have a prediction. If you don’t know what Device Assist does on your phone and or tablet let me catch you up to date. It helps navigate the ins and outs of certain phones. That means tools like speed tests, settings for battery saving and live tech support. Unfortunately according to Android Police Google is “Shutting it down”.

Now for my prediction it’s nothing game changing but could be used to some real good for new users to the Android TV platform and even still be the troubleshooting tool it is now. NVIDIA has a similar setup with their recommendation cards that show up for new SHIELD owners so they can learn everything about their new purchase. Google is somehow missing this but can change that with Device Assist even if it’s a first time run only tool.

Have any other theories? Comment below and lets discuss.
