[Meta] New Landing Pages for Android TV Content

Here at Android TV News, we bring users the latest news about Android TV apps, games, and devices. However, our mission is to be the “one-stop shop for everything Android TV”. While news is important, there are definitely ways that this site can improve and be a more useful resource outside of articles.

Slowly we’ve been upgrading the items in the header. Previously the link “Gaming” would have taken you to our category page, where you could read all of our gaming articles in reverse chronological order. That’s great, but what if we made that into a one-stop page for everything gaming? That’s exactly what we did.

Now the page gives links to our Twitch and YouTube channel, links to our interviews with developers, and even breaks down that games category page into subgenres. If you want to know only about new puzzle games, you can.

This has extended to most of our other pages in the top menu. These landing pages can serve as springboards to explore certain topics in greater depth, such as what constitutes a Leanback app. Additionally, users can now find information with greater granularity so that they can read only about a particular subcategory.

These sort of general landing pages have been something we’ve done in the past, like the list of Live Channel sources that exists in the sidebar. Now we’re beginning to expand upon the idea and producing content that users can come back to continually.

Have any suggestions for what you’d like to see in these pages? Let us know in the comments below.
