Android Nougat Preview 5 Rolls Out, is Final Developer Preview

Are you excited for the next version of Android? Android 7.0, codenamed Nougat, has been slowly improving in its stability since it was first announced months ago. It’s been iterating slowly through a developer preview, where early adopters can help shape the platform by giving quick feedback before they’re finalized.

In anticipation of this newest version, Google has so far published 4 developer previews. Now they just announced they’re rolling out the fifth, final version.

What does this mean? Nougat is getting closer to being final. Then this update will be open sourced and Google will work with device manufacturers to update their devices to Nougat. Developers can already set the compileSdkVersion to 24 and publish updates to their apps. We should expect to learn more about Nougat and OEM’s update plans in the months ahead.

What does Nougat bring to Android TV? You can take a look at the features: multiple Google accounts, picture-in-picture, and more in our video above.
