Telltale Games has found an interesting business model for their high caliber games. While you download a single game, you pay in small chunks for multiple “episodes”. Each episode exists as its own in-app purchase that gets you a little farther but allows you to stop playing without losing as much money. They have done this for a long time, although recently they have moved to freemium, where the first episode is free to download and play. They have done this with Minecraft: Story Mode.
A new game follows this model, Batman.
In this gritty and violent new story from the award-winning creators of The Walking Dead – A Telltale Games Series, you’ll make discoveries that will shatter Bruce Wayne’s world, and the already fragile stability of a corrupt Gotham City.
Your actions and your choices will determine the fate of the Batman.
The first episode is free to play, which is a good way to get users interested in the game. It is available for devices running “OS6 Marshmallow, and versions of OS5 Lollipop that support OpenGL 3.1” although that didn’t seem to work on any of my devices except for my Shield TV.
As the Shield is a top-notch gaming console, it’s good to see at least that device on the list of supported devices.
You can get it now on Google Play.
