LeEco TVs to be Updated With DirectTV Free Trial

Do you have an Android TV from manufacturer LeEco? If so, you should be receiving an update soon. This will give users access to “an extended free trial” through the DirectTV Now app.

The device purchase dates for this promotion are 4/1/2017 – 6/30/2017 and a unique promo code will be shared with those who qualify.

The app, which is on Google Play, seems to have some software support for Android TVs. On the web Play Store, it shows up as available for my ADT-1, although not any of my other Android TVs. After a teardown of the Play Store app, the app has no indication that it would support Android TV.

It is possible that this cooperation will result in a custom app that isn’t available to other users. When this update happens, it is likely that someone will be able to extract the APK and see whether it works.
