Red Bull TV Wins Best TV App at Google Play Awards

The Google Play Awards, held during Google I/O, is a chance to highlight the third-party developers who are advancing the Android platform with great apps. The awards were given out last night in a variety of categories, including Android TV. Google has a blog post for all of the apps, but of note in our case is Red Bull TV.

This app gets the award for Best TV Experience, which means the best of “Apps or games built for the large-screen format to provide an ¬†intuitive experience.”

Red Bull is a brand that is most commonly known for their energy drinks, although they have begun sponsoring different types of events at an attempt to attract a wider audience. They have sponsored sporting events, music festivals, and many other kinds of events. Along with sponsoring they also have built a collection of impressive videos which are showcased in their TV app.

Viewers can browse based on the type of event, whether they want biking, or live events, or many other categories.

The app is available to download on Google Play. It also appears in a new category in the Google Play Store for TVs.
