PlayStation Video is a new video store on Android TV

Sony’s PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 have had a video store where users could rent and buy movies directly from their gaming console and then stream it. While that’s given them a reach of tens of millions, Sony also has plans to get their app into even more homes by releasing their app on Android TV. Their new app follows alongside PlayStation Vue, their streaming TV service, which also has Android TV support.

Like many other video stores, users can browse from a variety of movies and either rent or buy them. They advertise that they’ll have “most movies before, or same day as the DVD”, which may be slightly sooner than other services. This is because of their movie productions horizontal Sony Pictures, which they may have a special deal with.

The app is free to download, so it may not hurt to download it and check out what they have.

Sounds like typical Sony app/software development to me. Their software has always been ubbish. Not up to the same standards as their games and hardware divisions.
