Italian Telecom to Launch New 4K Android TV Box

Android TV continues to grow more popular around the world. Cable providers in some countries have been looking at moving their cable boxes to Android TV to reduce the need for in-house software design. Plus, users can get access to more third-party content. A French telecom, Bouygues Telecom, is producing the BBox Miami, an Android TV set-top box.

Another European telecom, Telecom Italia, is planning to create their own Android TV set-top box. At a media presentation recently, they announced the development of a 4K decoder based around Android TV that will be ready this summer.

The box will likely be tightly integrated with their VOD (video on-demand) and music services TimVision and TimMusic.
