[APK Teardown] Watch TNT v4 Adds Leanback Support

Do you watch TNT? They have a variety of shows, movies, and sports, and users have been able to watch this content through their mobile app. With the recent update, it seems like there is support for Android TV, as shown from the web.

Users should be able to have full access to shows once they authenticate with a cable provider.

Users have reported that the app does work on Android TV with Leanback support, although there is currently not a banner that shows up on the homescreen. This should be fixed in a new version, although you can use the Tv App Repo to generate a shortcut with a custom banner.

Looking at the app manifest, touchscreen is not required anymore. However, the manifest does not currently show any LEANBACK_LAUNCHER intent.

But it is definitely coming. Here is one of the drawables, logos.png

Here’s another image, relating specifically to the Nexus Player, which of course runs Android TV. ic_nexus_active.png

This may tie into an announcement at Google I/O in a few weeks along with more content partners. The app is available on Google Play.

Hey there Nick!….unrelated…my 32ledttv “skyworth 32E510S” I think, runs android and has a built-in DVB-C/ DVB-T/ DVB-S tuner, my question is: How do I make “live tv” app pick it up from my MiBox?
    Thx!
