Jensen Launches New Chromecast Speaker

Chromecast functionality, allowing your phone to quickly cast media to a speaker directly or through an Internet connection, has slowly been adopted in the speaker industry. Jensen has just announced their new smart speaker, named the JSB-1000. This device, which is expected to retail for around $170, should appear in many stores.

In addition to just supporting Chromecasts, it will also work directly with Spotify Connect and have an audio jack for direct connections.

The great thing about Chromecast-enabled speakers is the multiroom audio feature. Instead of requiring vendor lock-in, they all share software in order to fill your house with music wirelessly.

Jensen Electronics has been around for a long time, since Peter Jensen invented the loudspeaker in 1915. Throughout the years the company has expanded to many other electronics areas, but speakers remain an area of focus.

The press release is below.

Jensen Stereo Smart Speaker with Chromecast built-in Now Available

Chicago, IL – Spectra, an industry pioneer in consumer electronics, launched its first Wi-Fi/Bluetooth speaker. Also featured on the JSB-1000 is Spotify Connect. Spotify users can now control the music playing using the Spotify app installed on their phone, tablet or computer.
